What have i learned from NTFM?
I learned much more about social media, blogging and other sites like linkedin. I have also learned a lot about google and how they structure their pages and listing, and why so links or on the top and so on.
I would suggest to people rading this blog that if you have an interest in the new tchnology side of marketing and you get a chance to do this course i would highly recomment that you do. You will broaden you knoledge of social media and other sites.
I found the blogging part of the course very interesting and now with the knoledge of wordpress i hope to start blogging on golfing event around the world on a weekly bases.
I would like to take this opprtunity to thank both my lecturers Colette and Catherine for there help and knoledge of the course in the last semester.
When is social media…. Just too far… too much… cross the line for you??
Social media has grown massivly over the past few years with the introduction of Facebook and Twitter the two main social networking sites in the world today. Facebook has millions of users and so does twitter, with this many followers some people are going to cross the line with bullys and mocking and saying unecessary comments. These things happen daily on the sites and their is no real way in preventing it besides facebook deleting that person from the site.
But what I think is too far is when a sports player suffered a massive injury and people go onto these social networking sites just to comment on this player and wish furture injury on worse on him/her. I dont think that there is a need for this. these sites where made in order for people to socialise and interact with eachother, not for bullying and other comment.

Bullying on social networks
Sadly, some people use social networks to tease and bully others.
Cyberbullies can:
- post abusive messages on your profile wall
- add rude comments to a picture you’ve uploaded
- put a video or photo on their own profile that makes fun of someone and encourage their friends to send it to others
Bullying on social networks can be tough to deal with, especially if a victim is being bullied by the same person at school.
Because it often happens on your own computer at home, online bullying can be very difficult to get away from.
If you feel like you’re being bullied on your personal profile, there are some things you can do.
I think that this needs to be taken much more serious by the law because of the amount of users on these sites.
Why youtube is so important for marketers??
Youtube is the worlds leading site for home video’s with millions of views and videos uploaded each year. Youtube is the second largest search engine in the world, this is very helpful for marketers who wish to use youtube as a marketing site in order to get customers interacting with their products. Marketers are using youtube more and more nowadays in order of getting customers to interact with their brand via the internet. In my opinion its only beging to start in terms of marketers using this site in order to get people interacting with their brand. in the future we are going to see much more of this, and i am very excited to see what will come out next in terms of video interaction on youtube. With this there are no real limites and the marketer can go as far as their imagionation allows them.
Youtube is also a free site. All you have to do is register for it and then you can post and watch as much videos as you want. This is a good thing for busniss’s and marketers that they can use the site free of charge this allows them to interact with people for free which is a great positive for business’s.
WGC Cadillac championship
Last weekend saw a very strong frield line up for the second world golf championship of the year at the TPC blue monster at Doral in Florida in the U.S.A. Bubba Watson started his final day at Doral at 18under par with Rose and Bradley 2 shots adrift. Mcilroy was well off the pace on the final day but had a low round a serged up the leader board the finish 3rd alone on 14under. Watson found it though on the last day shooting a 3 over par to finish second one behind Rose. But this wasent an easy victory for Rose as Watson had a birdie put on the last to take it to extra holes but a poorly struct put saw it stay left of the hole and this allowed Rose his 3rd victory on the PGA tour and game at a very good time 3 weeks before Agusta, it also moved him upto 7th in the world rankings. Golf fans had a little scare ahead of agusta with Wood being unable to finish his last round with an achillis problem, But from what my understanding is that he is now okay and will be competing at this weeks event Transitions Championship Innisbrook Resort Florida. It in now 3 weeks until the masters and With Mcilroy taking a break until then it promises to be one of the best Masters yet with both the PGA and European players playing so well.
Twitter is a relitivly new social networking site. It is very popular in the states with most celebrities and sports stars tweeting daily about there day to day lifes. Twitter is also used world wide but has yet to catch on like facebook has, twitter still has millions of users but noting close to reaching a billion users like facebook. In time in my opinion twitter will out do facebook and will be used by more and more people around the world. Twitter is different to facebook in many ways, on facebook you generialy are friends with people who you are actually friends with in your life but on twitter you folloe people (anybody) who you show an interest in may in be a celeb or and sports person you are a fan of. Trending is also very popular on twiiter and is one of many features it has. Trending is what people say and if it is said by enough people it was start trending. For E.G. #themoon, If a lot of people starting tweeting this and it caught on it would start trending and show up on the lefthand side of your screes.
Honda Classic-Palm Beech gardens Florida
This weeks event at the Honda classic in Florida saw huge excitment and a rearrangement of the world rankings. Rory Mcilroy proved this week that he has got what it takes to dominate the golfing world with a fantastic victory with a 12 under final score and winning by 2 shots. But this isent to say that Tiger Woods charged hard with a final day score of 8 under his best final day score ever. In my opinion i would think its fair to say that Tiger is nearly back to his best with the putter behaving well for him.
Rory Mcilroy is now the world number 1 after taking it from Luke Donald with his victory at the weekend in the honda classic. His superb ball striking and his amazing short game along with his solid putting has propelled him into world domination in the golfing world.
The masters is now only four weeks away and with world golf being so strong at the moment it will be a fantastic week of entertainment with woods coming back on form and Mcilroy world number one and hoping to put last years horror sunday finaly to rest. The masters wont disappoint.
RIP Facebook
Facebook has over 500 million active users.207 million of these are in the U.S. ! in every 13 people across the whole world has a facebook account and close to half of all these people are logged in at any given time. 48% of 18-35 year olds have a facebook account.
In my opinion i would think the facebook will only grow and grow because the introduction of facebook on smartphones has gotten massive and with so many people owning a smartphone and with facebook making their site smartphone friendly i would say that in time facebook will grow and will become a very good marketing and advertising tool if used correctly. 28% of all facebook users are using it through their smartphones.
Facebook had a record breaking 750 million photos uploaded during the new years week end. This is by far more than any other site in the world.
So based an these figures alone i woulsd think that facebook has a few years left before it becomes RIP and with their numbers growing yearly I would find it hard to believe if it were to cease to exist any time soon.!!

Accenture match play 2012
Hunter Mahan won this years Accenture match play with a 3 up advantage over Rory Mcilroy who pushed hard in the back nine after a disappointing mistake on the 7th hole let Mahan get the advantage over Mcilroy. Mcilroy left his second shot to the par 4, 7th shot, so did Mahan but Mcilroy also left his chip shot short and it rolled bach down the bank to where it already was, Mahan landed his on the green and this is where he gained his momentum to go on and win.
Rory played Lee Westwood in his semi-final match where he was 3 down after five but was able to claw it back and in the end beat Lee 3 up with a solid victory.
Tiger Woods had an early exit, He was beaten by the American Nick Watney in the second round. Tiger missed a 5foot putt to take the round to extra holes.
This weeks PGA event is taking place in Florida for the Honda classic. It is a big name event and will have the world number 1 Luke Donald teeing up along with Rory Mcilroy, Lee Westwood, Tiger Woods, Keegan Bradley.
Hopefully this sunday will hold as much entertainment as last sunday on the course.
